3D Modeling Exercise 1: Primitive Modeling

Exercise 1: Primitive Modeling Step 1:

Exercise 1: Primitive Modeling Step 1:

Preparation and Planning Before creating the sofa model, I found relevant reference pictures for reference and thought about how to do the modeling.

Step 2: Creating Basic Shapes

1.Creating Basic Geometric Solids:

Open the 3D modeling software and use a cube as the basic shape of the sofa. Then adjust the cube to an appropriate size.

2. Constructing the Sofa Seat and Backrest:

Add a mirror modifier. Stretch the cube into the shape of the sofa seat, duplicate the sofa seat, and rotate the sofa backrest out.

3. Adding Armrests:

The sofa armrests are made by duplicating the cubes of the seat. Adjust the width and height of the armrests to make them fit the overall proportion.

Step 3: Optimizing Shapes and Details

1.Subdividing and Refining: Use Edge Loop and Subdivision Surface to optimize the model. Add details to the model by adding edges at key positions. For example, by adding more partitions, the edges of the seat cushion can be made smoother.

2. Adjusting Curves:
The shape of the sofa is not entirely composed of straight lines, especially at the boundary between the backrest and the seat or the edges of the armrests. Use the Move tool to adjust the curves of the geometric solids to create a more comfortable shape.

Step 4:

Adding Materials Add materials to the sofa and adjust the parameters.

Step 5:

Lighting and Rendering Set up the scene lighting and make adjustments.
Add a camera and adjust the camera angle.
Adjust the rendering settings.
