Week 5/ Card sorting :

The teacher asked us to bring sticky notes for this lesson. Initially, I thought we would be using them for drawing, but it turned out to be for learning about classification. The teacher had us form groups of three or four to reclassify the cards. At first, we were puzzled about how to categorize them and what criteria to use, but after a lively discussion, we finally decided to classify the cards based on the nature of the items they represented, successfully resolving the minor challenges we faced. Later, we also gave a great presentation.

Week 6 :

We have no classes this week because Thursday is a holiday, but the teacher gave us a public assignment. Based on what we learned in the previous class, we will make a corresponding classification about Weibo. We can delete some functions or add functions, but we must explain the reasons.

Week 7 / User Experience research

With the basics of related classification learning last week, today’s course topic is the introduction of user experience research, and we started the research project 2. The teacher told us many kinds of research methods and user research methods, and the teacher also did some work on last week’s homework. Looking back, our current task is to build a set of online reports and interview recordings about Weibo.

DRAFT Survey Questionnaires:

1.0 Quantitative - Survey Questionnaire
Target Respondent: 50
Questionnaire (4 Section)
Section A: Demographic
Section B: Usage and preferences
Section C: Introduction to the WEIBO Application
Section D: Overall design and experience

2.0 Qualitative -Interview Questionnaire
Target Interviewee: 5
Questionnaire (2 Section)
Section A: Basic Information
Section B: In-depth Experience with WEIBO App

Week 8 / UI/UX Design document

This week is independent learning week, but it is still not easy. We need to complete the online questionnaire and interview questionnaire, send it to the teacher to get feedback, modify it, and then upload it to Google Questionnaire to find at least 50 respondents and three interviewers. ,and create three  user personas based on the survey questionnaire results.

Feedback:

I sent last week’s basic questionnaire to the teacher. This is the feedback given by the teacher:

It can be found from the feedback that the questions I considered were not comprehensive, and there were errors in the way some questions were asked. Subsequently, I made changes to the questionnaire. This is the final questionnaire:

After getting the final questionnaire, I imported the questionnaire into Google Questionnaire, found fifty people to fill it out, and found five people to interview.

Finally, based on the survey results, three user portraits were created:

Week 9/ User Journey Map & Digital Card Sorting

This week the teacher mainly explained to us what a user journey map is and what is the detailed content? How to create a user flow chart and teach us how to use the website to do Digital card sorting. Find seven interviewees to see how they sort. At the end of the course, the teacher gave feedback on the content of our previous independent learning week.

First, I classified the functions of Weibo and listed each item.
Then imported them into UXWEAK and looked for 7 people to categorize based on their personal understanding.Because my personal understanding cannot represent the public, that would be too one-sided.

RESULT

After collecting all the responses from the digital card sort, I have created my Information Architecture Diagram outlining the main content and functionality of the app (final version)

Week 10/ Site Map & User Flow

This week is the last part of project 2. The teacher explained MVP Features to us and checked the project for us at the end of the course.

Reflection
During this project, I initially gauged user perception through a Weibo card sorting survey and then refined it with a re-sorting upon identifying issues. Simultaneously, the interview survey delved deep into user needs and pain points, while the questionnaire survey gathered quantitative information from a broader sample. Based on these abundant data sources, I meticulously crafted a user flow map to streamline user operation processes, pinpointing crucial steps and potential hurdles, and subsequently defined the MVP features. Nevertheless, upon reflection, I recognized certain inadequacies in the connection between each stage. For example, during the transition from survey results to MVP functions, some latent user requirements were overlooked. Also, the classification criteria for certain special cases during card sorting were not sufficiently clear. Going forward, I will focus on rectifying these aspects to enhance the precision and effectiveness of project execution.
