Embedded Systems Assignment 1-Functional Concepts
Assignment 1-Functional Concepts
After the first class, we formed our own group. Our group consists of five members. The group name is "DWLKS" which is composed of the initials of each of our members.
As time was tight, we started the work that evening.I each came up with three electrons and voted within the group, and we finally chose —— Digital Pond.
Introduction:
When a user steps on the floor tiles, they react to the user's movement by creating a
water ripple effect. Motion sensors detect footsteps and create ripple effects and
other digital elements, such as falling leaves.
In order to facilitate the group work and speed up the process, we have created a document for members to work on.
We chose pictures related to ponds as backgrounds to be closer to the subject.
Finally, after our sorting, it was divided into five parts and made into a poster.
Teacher suggestions and feedback:
1. Prototype Environment: Build a 5 - inch by 5 - inch (about 15 cm by 15 cm) prototype environment, either by 3D printing (teacher will teach in Week 4) or using materials like plywood.
2. Project Execution: Instead of installing electric sensors on tiles, place an LCD screen on the floor, cover it with a plastic case, and put a heavy object on it to create a touch - screen - like function that shows coordinates and ripple animation when touched.
3. Research Direction: Refer to YouTube videos and mall cases (e.g., Sunbeam Prism Mark) for interactive floor inspiration and apply to the project.
4. Homework Optimization: Remove strengths/weaknesses, malfunction content, and projection mapping if not needed. Simplify strategy and industry trend parts, and add more about industry progress.
Finally, we made final changes in the group and completed the following two versions of the finished product:
Finally chose the second version.
FEEDBACK:
I have gained a great deal from completing this assignment. When researching the concepts of embedded systems and interactive spatial design, I broadened my knowledge by looking up information, learned about cutting - edge content such as holographic technology, and enhanced my information collection and integration abilities. Combining the two to design a functional system has exercised my innovative thinking and taught me to draw inspiration from different fields.
However, the process of doing this assignment also revealed some shortcomings. I didn't have a deep enough understanding of the classification of embedded systems, and my analysis of their integration with the design concept was not comprehensive enough. When studying the technical principles of interactive spatial design, I had difficulty understanding some complex principles, which affected the depth of my design. When making the presentation board, the visual presentation effect was not satisfactory, and the information layout was not clear enough.
In the future, I will strengthen my theoretical study of embedded systems and delve deeply into various concepts. I will ask for help in a timely manner when encountering technical problems to improve my understanding ability. At the same time, I will learn design skills to enhance the level of presenting my achievements, striving to perform better in subsequent assignments.
